Influenza and H1N1 Vaccines Information

As you know, LOTS of information has been put on the television and internet about the flu vaccines. All of our physicians want our kids to have BOTH the seasonal flu vaccine and the H1N1 vaccine.

The only reason the H1N1 was not in the seasonal flu is because it was not known about soon enough to get it in the seasonal vaccine we have. The H1N1 vaccine is made the same way that the regular vaccine is made but it only has the one exact strain of flu. Both are dosed the same, either injectable or mist.

A rule of thumb with the vaccine is if you can have the seasonal flu mist, you can have the H1N1 mist. If you can only have the injectable seasonal flu, you can only have the injectable H1N1.

Our flu vaccine stock has been unusual, so please call the office to see what is available. We do have the H1N1 vaccine available with limited seasonal flu and we are offering the H1N1 to parents as well as our children.
